Abstract
This map poster shows a detailed view of the lake floor bathymetry in Lake Ōkataina at a scale of 1:15,000. There are also three smaller maps detailing free air gravity, total magnetic intensity and conductive heat flow over the lake. The main map shows lake floor features and other subtleties that likely have not been seen for centuries. For example, the bathymetry shows Lake Ōkataina is made up of two smaller basins: one in the northeast and one in the southwest. The gravity data suggest the basement greywacke is slightly dipping under the lake, while the heat flow data show anomalies in the far northeastern, southwestern and southern parts of the lake. The surrounding countryside is shown by the digital terrain map which clearly shows how large volcanic domes impound the eastern and southern margins of the lake. This 611 mm by 598 mm sized map is the seventh and final map in the Rotorua Lakes Map Series.
