Abstract: A geochemical atlas of southern New Zealand is presented that shows variation in trace, minor and major element and oxide element concentrations in surficial sediments across much of the Southland and southern Otago regions. Sampling was undertaken at 360 sites spaced across an 8 km grid. At each site an upper A-depth sample was taken from 0-30 cm and a lower B-depth sample from 50-70 cm depth, with a hand auger. Dried,
