Abstract

Aotearoa New Zealand is at risk from tsunami that happen locally and around the Pacific Ocean. Recent events have shown that there is still a lot to learn about the effective communication of tsunami hazards that pose a threat to beach and coastal areas, particularly to boat and marine users. A team of researchers at GNS Science and Massey University collected survey data presented in this report to understand the needs of harbourmasters, marina owners/managers, boat owners and operators for beach and marine tsunami warnings and advisories in Aotearoa New Zealand.
