Blick, G.H. 1976 Survey report - Cross Creek 1975. Lower Hutt: New Zealand Geological Survey. New Zealand Geological Survey report EDS 33 14 p.
Abstract: The Cross Creek pattern was installed across the West Wairarapa Fault by EDS in 1964. The Department of Lands and Survey carried out the initial survey in 1969 (SO Plan No. 28398) and the second survey was carried out by EDS in December 1975. The purpose of this pattern is to monitor secular deformation across the West Wairarapa Fault at regular intervals. A full description of the Cross Creek site and pattern is contained in the site report (Richardson, G. EDS 32, in preparation). The purpose of this report is to present details of the method of surveying and the survey results in terms of discussion on the significance of the results in terms of earth deformation is not intended for this report series. The Cross Creek site straddles the West Wairarapa Fault which cuts Triassic greywacke and displaces topography of Otira and older ages. This fault, which was last active at this site in 1855, strikes north east - south west, is upthrown to the north west and exhibits dominantly right lateral displacement. The trace of the West Wairarapa Fault at this site is defined by a scarp with a vertical displacement between 1 and 3 metres.
