Moss, I.R. 1979 Wellington regional monitoring pattern : site report. Lower Hutt: New Zealand Geological Survey. New Zealand Geological Survey report EDS 61 25 p.

Abstract: This report replaces EDS 25 (1973) and 25A (1977). The original pattern was completed in December 1971 with the installation by EDS of three stations which with existing Lands and Survey Trig stations formed 4 braced quadrillaterals constituting the Wellington - Hutt Valley geodetic chain. In March 1972 Mt Crawford Trig Station was supplemented by a new EDS station, New Crawford, to improve observing conditions. in July 1975 Belmont was replaced by a new station called Koro. In 1976, the Earth deformation Committee of the Royal Society of New Zealand, recommneded the extension of the wellington - Hutt Valley Geodetic Chain to the northwest to straddle the Ohariu, Shepherds Gully, Pukerua Bay faults. The four new points are Colonial Knob, Wainui, Mana No 2 and Kapiti no 3. The pattern forms part of a proposed plan (Lensen 1968) to monitor earth deformation in the Wellington region and is part of a developing network set up to monitor vertical and horizontal secular deformation throughout New Zealand's active belt. The pattern is surveyed every 3 -5 years unless abnormal deformation is suspected, in which case the interval between surveys will be decreased (auth)
