Abstract: The Dunstan Fault monitoring pattern is one of several patterns proposed by NZGS in 1976 to monitor movement on the Dunstan Fault. Installed in 1981 by the Ministry of Works and Development, it forma part of a wider network of patterns throughout New Zealand designed to monitor earth deformation. The first survey was carried out in May 1980 by NZGS with assistance from Ministry of Works and development. This report presents details of the methods of surveying used and the results achieved. (Refer MWD report on Specifications for Monitoring movement of the Dunstan Fault, Job 8/1290/09, Code 2834, sheets 4 and 5). In August 1981 distances were remeasured over part of the pattern as a check on the initial survey. The results from this survey are shown in Appendix 1. (auth)
