Marwick, J. 1953 Divisions and faunas of the Hokonui System (Triassic and Jurassic). Wellington: New Zealand Geological Survey. New Zealand Geological Survey paleontological bulletin 21 141 p.

Abstract: In the first part, the series and stage divisions of the Hokonui System, recently proposed by the writer, are discussed from a paleontological viewpoint, their type localities are broadly designated, their fossils listed, and their ages assessed. Precise definitions of boundaries must wait for detailed stratigraphy. The six Triassic stages, grouped into two series, are based on sections in the Hokonui and neighbouring districts, Southland; the six Jurassic ones, grouped into three series, are based on the coast section at Kawhia Harbour and neighbourhood. The second part is a revision of the Triassic and Jurassic Brachiopoda, Pelecypoda, and Gastropoda, and a catalogue of the Cephalopoda. (auth)
