Abstract: In 2001 a natural hazard probability and impact report review was undertaken by Hawke’s Bay Regional Council. Since that time, research into many of the most significant hazards for the Hawke’s Bay has progressed. Alongside this several hazard events of global and national interest have reinforced the need for up-to-date hazard risk information for authorities tasked with Civil Defence Emergency Management Planning to use for their decision-making. This report provides an update of hazard and consequences for the majority of natural hazards of interest to Hawke’s Bay Regional Council. Where possible, quantitative data have determined the qualitative consequence rankings provided for each hazard. Some risk rankings have changed, although not to a great degree, since the 2001 report. Of particular note is new research for earthquake, landslide and hazardous substances event hazards. (auth)
