Abstract
This report describes the location, economic significance, production and use of mineral resources in South Canterbury and adjacent areas in the central South Island. It has been written to assist planners and to provide a data base for more specialised geological studies. The report includes both mineral occurrences (such as gold, clay, haematitic sand etc.) and geologically based resources (such as coal, limestone, petroleum, aggregate etc.).
